The Global Warming Alarmists run up against “Deniers”

Filed under: Uncategorized — roger @ 6:28 pm

One of the scarier scenarios I see unfolding today is the policies that are being proposed and voted on in DC that are based on global warming. For God’s sake, the only proof these Statists have are models of the future. Models are not proof. In fact, the UNIPCC models are so far off base vs. real observations that they should be mothballed. Certainly they should NOT be used for policy setting.

I dont know about you, but I get really tired of hearing all these jokers like Al Gore, and now Arnold, sucking up to federal science funding as long as they back the AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming) crowd who scream in the dark that the science is settled regarding man-made global warming. Please dont get me started on Dr. Hansen of NASA. He is a liar.

I have placed a link here so you can see a large number of real academics agree with the statement below submitted to the American Physical Society. For a list of signatores, please click on the link and read their titles. Now then, the next time you hear ALGORE given a “pass” by media or even your friends, stop them, cry BULLSHIT at the top of your voice, then call me. :)

Regarding the National Policy Statement on Climate Change of the APS Council: An Open Letter to the Council of the American Physical Society

——————————————————————————–

As physicists who are familiar with the science issues, and as current and past members of the American Physical Society, we the undersigned urge the Council to revise its current statement* on climate change as follows, so as to more accurately represent the current state of the science:

Greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, accompany human industrial and agricultural activity. While substantial concern has been expressed that emissions may cause significant climate change, measured or reconstructed temperature records indicate that 20th and 21st century changes are neither exceptional nor persistent, and the historical and geological records show many periods warmer than today. In addition, there is an extensive scientific literature that examines beneficial effects of increased levels of carbon dioxide for both plants and animals.

Studies of a variety of natural processes, including ocean cycles and solar variability, indicate that they can account for variations in the Earth’s climate on the time scale of decades and centuries. Current climate models appear insufficiently reliable to properly account for natural and anthropogenic contributions to past climate change, much less project future climate.

The APS supports an objective scientific effort to understand the effects of all processes—natural and human—on the Earth’s climate and the biosphere’s response to climate change, and promotes technological options for meeting challenges of future climate changes, regardless of cause.

What Should Obama do with his Nobel Prize Money?

Filed under: Uncategorized — roger @ 11:45 am

I have a great idea. How about he starts going Dutch with the Country on his little dinner dates! Here’s a report I found about a recent trip to Manhattan for Date Night with that “fine mamma”, Michelle: From a former Air Force Colonel..

Subject: The Date

First, let me say that I’ve moved three presidents up to now and I’ve seen incredible waste. But, the “new” guy really takes the cake. I don’t have an issue with the President promising his wife dinner and a show or that he even takes his wife out. But, when I saw the news say that the date cost $24,000, here’s what you DON’T know.

Three days before “dinner,” a C-17 flew Marines and the helicopter maintenance equipment to JFK Airport.
The day before “dinner,” I flew the USSS (Secret Service) and the motorcade to JFK Airport.

Our crew of five spent two days and nights at the Hilton in Times Square . My hotel bill: $621.66 plus $64 a day in per diem. The USSS guys were at a different Hilton in NYC, so figure that cost another $14,000 (or so) plus per diem. The Marines had to have cost as much and were there four days, so figure another $55,000 plus per diem (for 44 Marines).

We were supposed to fly the motorcade back and go home, but the Air Force was so short of C-17’s that we were re-tasked to take the motorcade back, return to JFK and take the helicopter back to Quantico.

When we got back to JFK, while the pilot was turning the plane around to park, he noticed a rotor blade sticking out of the hangar where the helicopter was parked and informed me that either it wasn’t ready to transport or it was flying home. After shutting down, I walked over to the hangar and to my surprise I find FIVE helicopters, not ONE.

We’re obviously not transporting five big helicopters. I went and talked to the Marines guarding the “fleet” and found that they were flying all five helicopters home and we were only transporting the Marines and the maintenance equipment. After talking to the Marine(s) in charge, I was told that the White House requested FIVE helicopters. The Marines told me that they spent all morning trying to figure out how much it cost them to come and said they figured it cost them $140,000 to stay there (I don’t know where they came up with that) and the trip’s total had to be about $1,000,000.

We heard that the President didn’t use Air Force One (the 747), so I asked if he came in on one of the 757’s. I was told that he came in on THREE Air Force Lear jets.

So, date night consisted of two C-17’s flying three missions, three Lear jets, five helicopters, a Presidential Motorcade, 44 Marines, more than 20 USSS personnel on our plane. Who knows what it cost the NYPD and NY Port Authority (at the airport) in overtime.

These are the same people who chastised the automobile CEO’s for using their aircraft. It further proves that the media only use the facts that make the President look good and hide any facts that will detract from his persona..

Is this the ‘change’ we expected?

Talk with friends and those who are not blinded by charisma. Many folks I know who voted for Obama are very disappointed and sorry they did so. The Emperor’s clothes on a grand scale. “Transparency”? Remember, 2010 is just around the corner. All we have to do is survive long enough.

Nobel Peace Prize

Filed under: Uncategorized — roger @ 2:11 pm

I had to look at my calendar this am to make sure it wasnt April 1st (Fools Day). Barak Obama won the Nobel prize for PEACE!?!?!?!?!
It further cheapens the award. But what can you expect from an organization that thinks Al Gore is spot on regarding Anthropogenic Global Warming.
Crusty the Clown is next.
Can someone please defend this racist, narcissist, dope some choose to call Mr. President?

A rant on Cash for Clunkers

Filed under: Uncategorized — roger @ 1:38 pm
So My dear wife, Myrolen forwards this email to me and asks for my comments.  Here is the email.  My comments are in the next post.

Things are not always as they seem.  Your recent GIFT from FED-ZILLA

Math lesson for suckers!  Taxes vary per state.

____________________________________________________________
For the ones who took FEDZILLA up on its offer of $4500. dollars to trade in your old “Clunker”
(interesting choice of words)?  Well, let’s see who got the best of that “deal”…
If you traded in a clunker worth $3500, you got $4500 off for an apparent “savings” of $1000.  You could have gotten $3,500 if you had just traded the car in.  So you really are $1,000 ahead (depending on your clunker’s value) at this point.  Not too bad…

However, you WILL have to pay taxes on the $4500 come April 15th
(something that no auto dealer will tell you).  If you are in the 30% tax bracket, you will pay $1350 on that $4500.

So, rather than save $1000, you will actually pay an extra $350. to the feds.  In addition, you traded in a car that was most likely paid for.  Now you have 4 or 5 years of payments on a car that you did not need, trading in a “clunker” that was costing you less to run
than the payments that you will now be making. Even if you save $1,000. dollars a year in gas due to better mileage, you’re still gonna be in the red for five years….hello?

But wait, it gets even better:  you also got ripped off by the dealer.  For example, the month before the “cash for clunkers” program started, every dealer here in LA was selling the Ford Focus with all the goodies including A/C, auto transmission, power windows, etc for $12,500. because competition was stiff due to poor sales from the stalled economy.

When “cash for clunkers” came along, they stopped discounting them  and instead sold them at the list price of $15,500.  So, you paid $3000 more than you would have the month before.  Honda, Toyota , and Kia played the same list price game that Ford and Chevy did.  Now let’s do the math…

You traded in a car worth:   $3500
You got a discount of:         $4500

                                          ———

Net so far                           +$1000

But you have to pay:            $1350 in taxes on the $4500
                                              ——–

Net so far:
-$350  (that’s minus…in the red)
And you paid:                     $3000 more than the car was selling for the month before

                                            ———-
Net  Loss:
-$3350

We could also add in the additional taxes
(sales tax, state tax, dealer prep, etc..) on the extra $3000 that you paid for the car, along with the Five years of interest on the car loan; but let’s just stop here while you kick yourself.  Suffice it to say that those costs will be much higher than any savings you get from “better mileage”.

So who actually made out on the deal?  FEDZILLA collected
taxes on the car along with taxes on the $4500 they “gave” you.  The car dealers made an extra $3000 or more on every car they sold along with the kickbacks from the manufacturers and the loan companies.  Manufacturers got to dump lots of cars they could not give away the month before.  Lots of good or repairable used cars got taken off the market, crushed and sold as scrap metal to (ready for this?) CHINA !  (Look it up…) And the poor consumer got saddled with even more debt that they cannot afford.

FEDZILLA’S merry men
(who promised that people making less than $250,000. would pay “not one red cent more in taxes”) will make millions in new tax revenues after convincing Joe Consumer that he was getting $4500 in “free” money from the “government” In fact, Joe was giving away his $3500 car and paying an additional $3350 for the privilege.   Chicago politics gone global….with an agenda.

If you find errors in this math, please let me know…being a simple guy, I’m always willing to learn new things; and if you took “advantage” of the Clunkers deal, I have some swamp land down in Florida that’s for sale…

And remember, these are the same Einsteins who want to take control of our health care system.  Hold on to your wallet!!
